CALGARY- Drivers may want to avoid Memorial Drive over the weekend, as crews prepare to do major road work.
On Saturday, the area between 19 Street and 10 Street N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. The roadway is being paved, and as a result of the closures major delays are expected.
Then on Sunday, eastbound Memorial Drive will be closed from Kensington Road to 19 Street N.W. between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for paving. Eastbound vehicles will be detoured onto Kensington Road and southbound 19 Street.
While road work is being done, drivers will not be able to access eastbound Memorial Drive from either northbound or southbound Crowchild Trail.
16 Avenue N.W. is recommended as an alternate route, and eastbound Memorial Drive can be accessed from eastbound Kensington Road.
