Speed, alcohol believed to be factors in fatal New Brunswick crash

EEL GROUND, N.B. – The RCMP says investigators believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in a crash that resulted in a man’s death in an accident on the weekend in New Brunswick.

Investigators say the 20-year-old man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died Saturday morning after the car crashed on Francis Road in Eel Ground First Nation near Miramichi.

Police say the man from Eel Ground died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, along with two passengers, a 19-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl all from Eel Ground, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the man who died was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The name of the victim is not being released while relatives are notified of his death.
