4 people injured in stabbing spree in Abbotsford

VANCOUVER – A man in his 30s has been arrested in Abbotsford after police suspect he stabbed four adults.

At about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, police received several 9-1-1 calls from the area of the 31400-block of Springhill Court saying a man was stabbing people.

Officers responded and with the assistance of BC Ambulance and Fire Rescue Service, the four injured adults were taken to hospital with various and serious stabbing injuries.

The man was arrested shortly after in a basement suite.

Thirty-four-year-old William Anton Butz was charged with four counts of aggravated assault on Monday.

Police say the four injured victims are continuing to recover. The 19 and 35 year old male victims and a 37-year-old female victim have been discharged from hospital.

An 18-year-old female victim remains in hospital in stable condition.

Abbotsford Police Department Major Crime Unit detectives and Forensic Identification Unit members are still investigating.
