VANCOUVER – Translink was doing ‘switch maintenance’ on SkyTrain Saturday morning, and while the work was set to be completed by 7:30 a.m. it ran longer than expected.
A bus bridge was set up between Commercial-Broadway Station and Waterfront.
The Expo line was only operating between Commercial-Broadway and King George Station, while the Millennium Line was only running between VCC-Clark and Columbia Station.
Translink says this was scheduled maintenance that ran late due to an issue with the parts.
On Monday both the Expo and the Millennium Lines went down for about five hours after an electrician tripped the main breaker. Translink is offering a free day of transit on BC Day to apologize to their customers.
On Wednesday there were also problems between Commerical-Broadway and Waterfront due to a switch problem.
However, Translink says Saturday’s switch problem is not related to the switch problem on Wednesday and that there are more than 80 switches on the Expo and Millennium lines.
