Police investigate suspicious death outside of northwest Humpty’s

CALGARY – Police are investigating after a man’s body was found outside of a northwest Humpty’s on Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the 1600 block of 46th Street N.W. around 6:45 a.m. after someone spotted a man who appeared to be unconscious.

EMS arrived to find a man dead, lying face down on the ground.

Police are calling the death suspicious and have called in the homicide unit to investigate.

“It takes time to process a scene, particularly when this is basically a business plus a public accessed area,” explains S/Sgt. Jason Bobrowich. “We have to work within the confines of the weather and resources we can put into place.”

The deceased is described as being between 40 and 50-years-old. A few personal items were discovered near the body, including a sleeping bag.

The cause of death will be determined during an autopsy.

Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the area prior to police discovering the victim is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
