VANCOUVER – Translink says SkyTrain delays between Commercial-Broadway and Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver Wednesday morning resulted from a switch problem at Waterfront.

At about 6:45 a.m., trains were stopped for about seven minutes. Full service was then restored except for trains between Main and Waterfront, which had between 10 to 15 minute delays.

The issue was solved by 10:30 a.m.

In a statement, Translink says like any other major transportation system in other cities they have minor service disruptions that cause short delays.

“Today is no exception and should not be taken in the context of the unprecedented system disruption we experienced in the last week,” says Translink. “Today’s service delays were communicated to users on platforms and trains though our public address system announcements and the Twitter account @Translink.”

Due to the system-wide shutdown on Monday, Translink is offering customers a free transit day on BC Day, August 4.
