A man believed to be responsible for an unprovoked attack on a Spanish tourist in downtown Victoria is now in custody.
The attack happened Tuesday afternoon in a courtyard near Blanshard and Courtney St.
The man suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
He has been released from hospital yesterday.
Investigators says video surveillance and victim statements show the attack was completely unprovoked.
A 21-year-old Victoria man was arrested by officers patrolling the neighbourhood in the 500-block of Ellice Street later that day.
The officers noticed the suspect, who was wearing the same clothing and distinctive shoes as at the time of attack.
He also had injuries to his hand consistent with a fight.
He is being interviewed this morning and will be making a court appearance.
Officers are recommending one count of assault causing bodily harm.
