EDMONTON – A 74-year-old woman has been taken to an Edmonton hospital with head injuries after her mobility scooter collided with a truck in Leduc.

It happened around 3:40 p.m. at the entrance to the 50th Street Tim Horton’s.

“As it is summertime, we see an increase in bicycles, scooters, skateboarders and pedestrians on roads and sidewalks,” said Cst. Julian Celms of the Leduc RCMP.

“I encourage all drivers to be mindful of their surroundings when making turns or opening vehicle doors.”

Traffic on 50th Street was reduced to one lane as a collision analyst surveyed the scene. It has since reopened.

Charges against the driver of the truck, a man in his 50s, are not expected at this time.
