30-year-old seriously injured in north Edmonton ATV crash

An ATV struck the wooden fence at 134 Street and 130 Avenue Sunday afternoon, causing the 30-year-old driver to lose control and be ejected onto the pavement. Global News

EDMONTON – A 30-year-old man is in critical condition after losing control of the ATV he was riding Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the area of 134 Street and 130 Avenue just after 5 p.m..

The man had been thrown from the quad onto the pavement after striking a wooden fence while riding in an alley.

Police say the driver wasn’t wearing a helmet. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Speed and driver error are believed to be contributing factors in the collision, which is still under investigation.

It’s illegal to ride ATVs within city limits. There’s no word on charges at this time, though.
