CALGARY- Murder charges are pending, after an 18-year-old died after being assaulted earlier this month.

Police were called to a strip mall in Radisson Heights just before 4 a.m. on July 5, and found an unconscious man. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and died on Tuesday, July 15.

He has been identified as 18-year-old Ayuen Ajak Goot, who also goes by Devon. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

Police believe the incident was not random.

On Wednesday night, two young men were arrested in the community of Dover, in connection with the case. Both face second-degree murder charges, and will be named once charges have officially been laid.

Goot’s death is the 19th homicide in Calgary this year.
