Calgary MLA Kent Hehr looks to move into federal politics

CALGARY- A Calgary MLA is looking to make the move into federal politics.

On Thursday, Kent Hehr announced he wants to represent the Liberals in Calgary Centre in the next federal election.

“I know that Justin Trudeau understands the value the city brings and as a representative for Calgary Centre, I can bring this voice to Ottawa on issues that matter to us,” he said in a statement. “My heart is here, I know the issues in the community very well and I’m eager to build on this connection in a new role.”

Hehr has served in the Calgary-Buffalo riding for nearly two terms.

“I understand the issues of the people who live, work and play in Calgary Centre,“ he says. “I’m out there talking to people every day and I know their concerns.”

The next federal election is tentatively set for October 19, 2015.
