QUEBEC – Police have arrested a father after he allegedly left his five-year-old son unattended so he could go to a bar.
According to authorities, the boy was discovered shivering in his underwear on a street corner in the Charlesbourg area of Quebec City just before 1 a.m. on Monday morning.
Apparently after having woken to find his father missing, the young boy left the apartment to search for him. He was discovered about 200 metres from the home. Police could not confirm for how long the child had been outside.
A few minutes after he was discovered, his father, allegedly in a drunken state, showed up at the apartment, where he was arrested by police.
The child was in good health and is now with his mother. The father could face charges relating to child abandonment.
