“He was highly intoxicated by alcohol,” said Constable Danny Richer with the Montreal police.

“He was transferred to a hospital where he is still in stable condition.”

A cab driver, heading southbound, hit the 23-year old man and then collided with another vehicle.

Montreal police say the man’s condition has improved.

“Right now he is in stable condition and we do not fear for his life,” said Manuel Couture of the Montreal police.

The taxi driver and the motorist in the second car were treated for minor injuries.

Police are speaking to witnesses to find out what happened, but say the investigation is close to ending.
