NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – RCMP are asking for the public’s help Sunday in locating a missing 58-year-old man in North Battleford, Sask.

Around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Mounties say Wally Giesbrecht left a hotel near the Highway 16 bypass to go for a walk.

He asked hotel staff about the walking bridges over the North Saskatchewan River as well as paths on Finlayson Island.

When Giesbrecht failed to return, his family searched for him but were unsuccessful.

It is uncommon for Giesbrecht to be gone this long.

The local fire department deployed a boat into the river and canvassed the shore line and the island with RCMP.

Giesbrecht has not been found and the investigation is ongoing.
