NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – It was a rude awakening for residents of an apartment building in North Battleford, Sask. after a stolen vehicle crashed into the building early Wednesday morning.

Mounties received word just after 4 a.m. of an erratic driver in the area of 11th Avenue and 108th Street.

Responding officers located the vehicle however the driver refused to stop and police did not give chase.

Just after 4:30 a.m., a call came in that a vehicle had crashed into the corner of an apartment building at the corner of 15th Avenue and Victoria Crescent.

The driver fled the scene but was tracked down a short distance away.

No one was injured and a trace of the vehicle found that it had been previously reported stolen.

The 16-year-old has been charged with impaired driving, flight from police, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, two counts of mischief and seven breach of probation charges.

He is being held in custody until his first court appearance Thursday morning.
