Collision on train tracks near Innisfail sends man to hospital

EDMONTON – A southbound Canadian Pacific Rail train collided with a loader working on the rail line at Township Road 362, just two kilometres north of Innisfail.

The RCMP was called at 6:10 Tuesday morning.

A 44-year-old man, who was operating the loader on the rail construction site, was found unconscious by the Fire Department and EMS.

STARS Air Ambulance flew the man to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary with undetermined injuries.

Highway 2A was closed briefly to allow STARS to respond.

Innisfail RCMP is still investigating the crash. No charges have been laid at this time.
