A 26-year-old Minnesota man didn’t — and it landed him in jail.

Nicholas Wig allegedly broke into a St. Paul home last week and checked his Facebook profile but forgot to log off, CBS reported.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Homeowner James Wood told the news station he called police after he noticed items missing from his home, including cash and soccer tickets.

A short time later Wood checked his computer.

“He pulled up his Facebook profile and left it up,” Wood told CBS. “I shared his photo and said ‘watch out this guy is a thief’ and people kept commenting on that post.”

The victim told the news outlet he left his phone number on the Facebook post and received a text from the suspect. He arranged to meet with Wig.

Wig could face up to 10 years in prison, CBS reported.

“It’s a pretty unusual case, might even make the late night television shows in terms of not being too bright,” Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom told CBS.
