MONTREAL – Police are investigating Montreal’s 13th homicide of the year after a 40-year-old man was stabbed in a Côte-des-Neiges alley late Monday night.
The attack happened around 9 p.m. near Paré Street and Mountain Sights Avenue, just east of the Decarie Expressway.
Montreal police were called to the scene after the man was found with stab wounds to his upper body.
“Urgences-Santé called the Montreal police to come because they were in the presence of a man, aged in his 40’s, who had been attacked with a sharp weapon,” said Simon Delorme with the Montreal police.
The victim was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead around 1 a.m.
According to police, witnesses say they found the man in a pool of blood with a sharp object sticking out of his body.
Police arrested a 34-year-old suspect in a nearby apartment building.
“At this time, we’re considering every possible theory,” said Delorme.
“One theory we are considering is that it’s a love triangle. A crime of passion.”
