Saskatoon firefighters extinguish smoking home in Rosewood

SASKATOON – Fire crews extinguish home under construction in Saskatoon’s Rosewood neighbourhood early Saturday morning.

Around 2 a.m., Saskatoon Fire Department was called to 443 Werschner Lane where heavy black smoke was coming from the garage.

Crews entered the home and initiated an offensive attack, which brought the blaze under control in around an hour.

One firefighter sustained minor steam burns during the initial attack.

There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

A fire investigator is determining the cause of the blaze.
