One person has been found dead after a townhouse fire in Maple Ridge.

Fire crews were called to the home on 207A Street near Dewdney Trunk Road at around 11 p.m. Thursday.

By the time firefighters arrived, the complex was completely engulfed in flames.

Investigators believe the blaze started on the main floor and then quickly spread to the second flood.

Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze before they began a search of the building.

Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating.
