Woman found hiding in truck compartment at Alberta border crossing

CALGARY- Border services officials got quite a surprise earlier this week, after a pulling over a truck at a border crossing near Lethbridge.

On Tuesday, a man was trying to cross into Canada at the Carway port of entry, when CBSA officers began examining his truck and noticed something looked strange with an external fuel tank on the back. When they opened it, they found a woman hiding inside.

47-year-old Mercie Maslog Lumacad has since been charged under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, along with 63-year-old Richard Watt of Colorado.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
