WINNIPEG – A 60-year-old man was killed on a construction site in rural Manitoba when a steel pipe fell on him, RCMP say.
The man died at a construction site in Hochfield in the rural municipality of Stanley, about 12 kilometres south of Winkler, on Wednesday morning, Manitoba RCMP said.
Co-workers called 911 after the large pipe fell on the man around 9:30 a.m. and emergency services responded, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a news release.
Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health and the RCMP are investigating.
Police aren’t releasing the name of the man, who lived in the RM of Stanley.
