SASKATOON – Surgeries are expected to resume Wednesday at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon after a partial power failure that cut electricity to some areas.

The Saskatoon Health Region says crews were able to reroute power to the medical systems affected.

The health region says work is continuing to restore the hospital’s water heating system and the parkade elevator.

Power flow to some areas was cut off after a piece of equipment failed during a planned shutdown to do electrical upgrades.

Medical suction and air flow in the building were affected, particularly in operating rooms.

Patients whose surgeries were postponed will be contacted by the hospital with new dates.
