The Independent Investigations Office says a third party review will take place on the organization’s first-ever investigation.

The IIO released a report in April 2013, clearing RCMP officers of any blame in the shooting of Greg Matters at his home in Prince George.

That report said Matters was shot in the chest but a pathologist testified at a coroner’s inquest that he was shot in the back.

The police watchdog addressed the discrepancy in a supplemental report released on Friday.

Vancouver lawyer Mark Jette will conduct an administrative review of the agency’s investigation, but he says he will not be re-opening the case.
