WATCH: More suspicious fires sparks concern

Vernon – There is concern in the North Okanagan after two more suspicious fires over the weekend. RCMP say they are now investigating as many as fourteen suspected arsons in the Vernon area.

A boat on a trailer parked inside a locked fenced compound in the seven thousand block of Pleasant Valley Road was destroyed by fire.

Fire crews were called in just before midnight Sunday.

Two nights earlier fire fighters battled a suspicious blaze in a boarded up home at 3802 30th Avenue.

As the list of suspected arsons grows, the RCMP have assigned half a dozen officers to work full time on the case.

“We get fires in the South, we get fires to the North. We’re not 100 per cent sure if they are linked,” said Gord Molendyk spokesperson for the Vernon RCMP, “we’re scrambling trying to bring this file to a conclusion.”
