Sicamous driver rescued from burning car

NEAR SICAMOUS — A dramatic rescue that no doubt saved a Shuswap man’s life late Saturday afternoon.

The 60-year-old lost control of his vehicle on the Trans Canada Highway just outside of Sicamous.

It rolled onto its roof before resting on the side of the highway.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A bystander stepped in and pulled the man from the car — not a moment too soon — because the car burst into flames.

The driver was the only one in the vehicle.

He was taken to Salmon Arm hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While there is no word on what caused the man to lose control, police say no charges are being pursued.
