EDMONTON – An 18-year-old woman is in hospital in Edmonton after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Red Deer Friday afternoon.
Red Deer RCMP were called to the intersection of 67 St. and 58 Ave. around 3:30 p.m. Officers say the woman was crossing 67 St. when she was struck by a car that was heading east.
The woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to Red Deer Hospital. She was then air lifted by STARS Air Ambulance to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton where police say she is in critical, but stable condition.
The victim’s name has not been released.
The driver of the car was a 19-year-old woman. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
Red Deer City Traffic Services continue to investigate.
