WEST KELOWNA — A leisurely fishing trip on Wednesday morning turned out to be anything but for an Okanagan man.
Larry Brown, 45, launched his canoe from Bear Creek Park to head out on Okanagan Lake.
According to Brown’s friend, it’s believed heavy wind forced the fishermen off the water north of Traders Cove.
The 45-year-old tried to climb up a rock face to Westside Road, but became stuck roughly 50-feet above the lake.
Brown called his friend after becoming stranded, to let him know that he was stuck. His friend then called emergency officials to help.
A high angle rescue team is now attempting to save Brown, who appears to be unhurt.
