Emergency training exercises taking place on SFU

Simon Fraser University

A section of University Drive will be closed for an RCMP training exercise on the Simon Fraser University campus today.

The training exercise, which will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is being done to test inter-agency communication protocols, emergency plans and police response.

Joining the RCMP in the training exercise is the Burnaby Fire Department, BC Ambulance and SFU staff.

Mounties said the exercise will include simulated gun fire and that a section of University Drive north of Terry Fox Field will be closed.

Police are asking the public to stay clear of the participants while they are doing their training exercises.
