Highway 1 was closed in both directions for several hours near Field, B.C. due to a crash between a car and a semi.

Witnesses say the two vehicles collided head-on. The car reportedly went down a 20 foot embankment and may have been on fire.

Alberta’s STAR air ambulance was dispatched to the scene 12 km east of the west boundary of Yoho National Park.

The highway has since been open to alternating traffic, but there is still no word on the condition of the people in the accident.
