SASKATOON – Empire Foundations pleaded guilty to two counts under occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation in Saskatoon provincial court on Tuesday.
The construction company was charged for failing to ensure that a worker in a trench over 1.2 metres deep is protected from cave-ins or sliding material and failing to supervise all work at a place of employment.
Charges stem from an inspection at a Tisdale, Sask. worksite on Jan. 10, 2012.
An OHS officer observed workers in a trench that was not properly shored and sloped.
The Saskatoon company was fined $9,800.
