After years of grinding on the golf course, with little to no success it was finally coming together for Greg Machtaler.

Machtaler’s 2013 season seemed primed for a storybook ending in the lead-up to his run at a Web.com Tour card.

He was playing the best golf of his life, when life hit him harder than a driver making contact on a Pro V1 ball.

Glenn, Greg’s dad suddenly passed away at age 56 in late August of 2013.

With so much ahead of him, Greg had a tough decision to make.

To continue to play, and chase his dream of competing in the PGA Tour – or lay down his clubs and mourn the shocking passing of someone who meant so much to the Machtaler family.

Machtaler chose to put his PGA dreams on hold to mourn with his family.

Nine months later, he’s back and poised to a pursue a promising career in professional golf.
