HAGUE, Sask. – A fresh start is set to begin for Valley Ford in Hague, Sask. after fire ravaged the car dealership in August.

Nothing says a new beginning like a new location.

It doesn’t look like much now but an empty spot located in Hague’s new commercial area off Highway 11 will be the new home of Valley Ford.  Sod turned on construction of the new dealership Thursday.

“After 280 days there’s been a lot of ups and downs, setbacks, whatever; that people, staff didn’t know about just working out of adverse conditions, this is just like a new beginning for us,” said Bob Kenny, Valley Ford owner.

Parts of the old dealership still stand, serving as a constant reminder of what they’ve overcome.

Despite not having a building it’s been business as usual.

“It is new life, I think we are a pretty important part of this community and we employ 26 people from either this community or locally, we seem to be growing and we hope to continue to grow,” said Kevin Adams, Valley Ford general manager.

The community showed it’s support again as a number of residents were on hand for the sod turning.

“They’ve supported us during the times right now, it’s a huge confidence builder and that’s one of the reasons why we’re going ahead with this building and stay here, we’re excited to be in this community and look forward to long prosperous times,” said Kenny.

This project will be built locally, Zak’s Home Building Centre is right next door.

Shovels are expected to officially break ground at the new Valley Ford location in the next few weeks with the owner hoping to finally move into the new building in early 2015.
