West Vancouver Police have asked the provincial police watchdog to investigate a confrontation between an officer and a group of longboarders in April.
Police have been investigating the incident since the video went viral in April, and have now requested the oversight of the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.
In the video, two longboarders are heading down a steep hill on Finch Hill Road, filmed from a camera mounted on the third longboarder.
The group rounds a corner where they are met by a West Vancouver Police undercover cruiser with its lights flashing. All of the longboarders fall to the ground in an apparent attempt to avoid the cruiser.

West Vancouver Police say they won’t be commenting on the investigation until the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner reaches a decision.
