SASKATOON – A man is in custody after an armed standoff with police south of Saskatoon on Monday.
RCMP were called to a rural property in the R.M. of Lost River, about 30 kilometres northeast of Hanley, around 11 a.m. after receiving a call about a distraught man.
The 27-year-old man was reported to have a rifle on the property belonging to family members.
The emergency response team, negotiators and canine units were called out and a perimeter was set up to restrict access to the area.
Efforts were made to have the man surrender and police finally entered the residence just before 5 p.m. and arrested the man.
His name has not been released.
No one else was inside the home and there were no injuries.
Mounties continue to investigate and say charges are pending.
