Police arrest suspect after woman stabbed in Brampton

TORONTO – Peel Regional Police have arrested a male suspect after a woman was stabbed in Brampton early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. near Queen Street and Central Park Drive.

Witnesses told police the stabbing took place inside a vehicle and passersby came to the rescue of the victim, pulling her out of the car.

Police said the suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle which was later involved in a collision near Steeles Avenue and Airport Road.

The man managed to evade officers following a brief pursuit but police were able to locate him around 9 a.m.

“This appears to be an isolated incident. There is a relationship between the two people,” Cst. Ruttan said.

Peel EMS say the woman was stabbed multiple times in the upper body and is in stable condition at a trauma centre.

An air ambulance was needed to transport the victim to hospital.
