CALGARY – Calgary MLA Ric McIver officially joined the Alberta PC leadership race on Monday.
He handed in his nomination papers at the PC Alberta Calgary office at 8:30 a.m.
McIver has spent the past ten days on the road speaking with Albertas in different communities.
“I’ve said all along, I wasn’t in any rush to file,” said McIver. “What was important to me was going to meet some of my bosses first, and talking with them face-to-face, hearing their concerns and ideas.”
“I have many more bosses to meet so that will continue, but now it’s time to file and make it official,” he added.
McIver is one of three people who have declared they are running for their party’s top job.
The others are former federal cabinet minister Jim Prentice, who filed his nomination papers on May 16th, and former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk.
