WEST KELOWNA – A 30 year old man has admitted his guilt in an arson fire that heavily damaged the Westbank Lions Community Hall.
Declining legal representation, Kerry Robert Cooper entered the plea via video from North Fraser Pre-Trial Thursday morning.
Crown Lawyer Dave Grabavac says RCMP have video surveillance of Cooper buying gas at a local gas station and walking in the direction of the hall the morning of the fire with a gas can in hand.
Grabavac says a short time later the video shows Cooper walking back empty handed.
Provincial Court Judge Anne Wallace has ordered Cooper undergo a pre-sentence psychiatric and psychological assessment ahead of Cooper’s next court date on July 3rd.
The Westbank Lions Hall was set on fire on September 1st of last year. It’s now being rebuilt.
