Calgary man saved after getting stuck in backcountry

CALGARY- A Calgary man had a close call, after getting stuck in the backcountry.

The 28-year-old went off-roading by himself in his Jeep, when it became stuck. He wasn’t able to dislodge it himself, so he ended up walking through the forest all night, before finally ending up at an air strip.

He was found by a conservation officer, after being reported missing to Cochrane RCMP on Wednesday. He has since returned home safely.

RCMP are warning people to take extra precautions when heading into the backcountry, especially because many areas do not have cell phone service. They also recommend notifying friends or family, before heading out.
