KELOWNA — The tree is destroyed but the house was damaged following a scary incident at a Kelowna home Tuesday.
Fire crews were called to Stearns Road in Rutland where a crew was doing some seal coating on a laneway using a torch.

The flames from the torch apparently spread to a nearby tree. The large tree went up in flames in an instant. The homeowners attacked the fire with garden hoses before Kelowna fire crews arrived.
