Fire sparks over $100,000 in damages to North End house

A fire burns through 43 Powers St. Shaun McLoed

WINNIPEG – A North End house is destroyed after an early morning fire Saturday.

Just after 1 a.m. fire crews were called to 43 Powers Street.

“When we arrived the back of the house was well involved, after a thorough search of the building, I should say one occupant was self evacuated prior to our arrival,” said Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Platoon Chief Ted Kuryluk at the scene.

WFPS says the fire is still under investigation and there is no known cause yet.

Damage to the house is estimated at $100,000 with an extra $20,000 worth of damage to the contents of the house. A car was also damaged worth $10,000.

The homeowner, Raymond Rudolph returned home late Friday night and noticed his house was on fire.

There were no injuries, but two dogs were inside the house at the time of the fire and were rescued by Rudolph.
