Long Plain woman charged with second-degree murder in Winnipeg killing

WINNIPEG – Valerie Arlene Assiniboine has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of John David Goundry in Winnipeg.

Goundry, 51, was found dead on April 1 in his apartment on the 400 block of Elgin Avenue.

Police arrested Assiniboine, 56, who is from Long Plain, Man., on Thursday.

Goundry and Assiniboine got in an argument that escalated until Assiniboine grabbed a knife and stabbed Goundry, police allege.

Assiniboine is being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
