TORONTO – A 31-year-old woman in Texas has been arrested after posing as a 15-year-old high school student.
Using a fake identity and birth date, Charity Anne Johnson enrolled at New Life Christian School as a tenth grader in October 2013.
Tamica Lincoln, who acted as her guardian, told KLTV she met Charity in March 2013 and was led to believe she had been abused and both her parents had passed away.
“I sympathized with her, and invited her into my home. I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes,” Lincoln told KLTV.
Lincoln discovered Johnson’s identity a week ago and notified the school and police.
“Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t believe it,” KLTV quoted Lincoln as saying.
Johnson was arrested for failure to identify and giving false, fictitious information. She’s currently in the Gregg County Jail on a $500 bond.
