Longtime Liberal cabinet minister John Gerretsen has held this riding for five terms, but is not running again. Since taking the seat from NDP MPP Gary Wilson by just under 2,000 votes in 1995, he has won each election at least 10,000 votes.

Queen’s University skews the demographics here quite a bit, with just 2.3 people in the average household and 46.1 per cent people over 15 married.
