History

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Liberal Dave Levac has held this riding since it was created in 1999, with much of his vote coming from Brantford’s suburban neighbourhoods. He’s won two of his elections by more than 20% over the PCs, and two of them by less than 5%. Prior to 1999, the area had two seats – one for Brantford (which tended to vote for the ruling party), and one for the surrounding county, which voted for Liberal MPP (and former leader) Robert Nixon from 1962-1991 and his father Harry for 40 years before that.
