KELOWNA – They duke it out as competing media outlets in Kelowna.
Now it looks like the two will do battle in court.
Castanet is suing the parent company of The Juice FM radio station for alleged copyright infringement.
The on-line media organization claims the radio station copied, largely verbatim and without credit, an original Castanet news story from February.
It launched the court action after The Juice failed to respond to a demand for written confirmation that it would stop copying news stories from the Castanet website.
The Notice of Claim states: “The copying of material by The Juice and their failure to confirm that they will not do so again, has resulted in financial loss to Castanet.”
Castanet is seeking $5,000 compensation.
