OSOYOOS, B.C. – The Kelowna Major Crimes Unit is investigating human remains discovered April 21st near Osoyoos.
RCMP confirm remains were found off Bullmoose Road, a subdivision of acreage lots on Anarchist Mountain, east of the South Okanagan town.
The person who made the discovery called Osoyoos RCMP, who in turn called in major crimes investigators.
Sgt. Kevin Schur says there are no missing person files in their detachment coverage area that match the description of what was found. The only outstanding missing persons files date back to the 1970’s, says Sgt. Schur.
Cst. Kris Clark, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson would not release any details of what, if anything, major crimes investigators are working on in relation to the find.
“All I can say is we typically do not confirm or deny investigations unless there is an investigational or public safety need,” says Cst. Clark. “Specific details about any investigation only become known when that investigation results in charges being laid by Crown Counsel. This is done not only to protect the integrity of our investigations but also to protect all citizens that may be subject to a police investigation where no charges are laid.”
