Firearms complaint a hoax: Saskatoon police

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police have cleared the scene after a reported hostage situation in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood on Sunday.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police were called to a disturbance at an apartment in the 300-block of Avenue T South.

A female caller said she was being held against her will by three men armed with firearms inside the building.

The caller also added that the alleged suspects had drugs.

Police contained the scene and asked motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area.

Investigators determined that the call was a hoax before 1 p.m.

Police are now trying to identify the person responsible for making a false complaint, which can constitute a criminal offence.
