UPDATE: Heath Traditional School will re-open for all students on April 16.

Investigators believe arson may be to blame for an overnight fire at a Delta elementary school.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Smoke and flames were first reported around 2:30 a.m. Monday at Heath Traditional School near 113th Street and 72nd Avenue.

It’s still not clear where the fire started but officials say a large part of the building has been damaged by water and smoke.

District officials say the building will be closed until further notice. Arson investigators will be back on-scene Monday morning.
