TORONTO — Coldplay pulled the curtain back Monday on the video for its new single “Magic.”
Presented like an old-time silent movie, the video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and stars Ziyi Zhang (Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Martin does double duty as a magician’s assistant and the magician’s abusive husband.
The song is from Coldplay’s album Ghost Stories, which is set for release May 19. It’s the first collection of new music from the band since 2011’s Mylo Xyloto.
In February, Coldplay released a video for “Midnight,” another track on the album.
Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently announced they are separating after a decade of marriage.
